我觉得，intimate revelation　不应该翻译成“诉衷肠”或“倾诉衷情”。向自己的情人表白，才是“诉衷肠”。告诉第三者，用现在的话叫“曝料”。:D

很高兴能对你有所帮助。我查阅的词典，包括陆谷孙的英汉大词典，MW和AHD，都没有将这一用法列入，仅收录open up 作为不及物动词的解释，即敞开心扉，畅所欲言，等等，幸好有了网络这个东西，能够帮我们了解很多书本以外的东西。其实开贴之初，大多数人，包括Steve，也都认为Li的理解是对的，至少是可以接受的。这也说明，翻译文学作品，尤其是翻译名著的确很不容易，需要有严谨的作风和谦和的心态。任何人的知识都是有边界的，不可能不犯错误。但就这一个句子来看，Li对几个关键点的理解是很不到位的，例如还有bore，翻译成“无聊”是不准确的，即使查词典我也没有发现它有这个义项。bore就是惹人烦，招人讨厌，（折）磨人。
