Great advice, Yueyin, not only to Wenjer, but to all of us IMO.
I looked up the baidu page of 赵朴初 ... Now this is someone whose perspective on life I can really have respect for.
http://baike.baidu.com/view/34419.htm
The link you provided also has a hyperlink at the bottom of the page to a short text titled IMO it's worth reading and probably worth emulating for some of us.

Steve,

Thanks, lbone.
For me personally, I have to say life after retirement is more of an issue of "how" rather than "how long". That's also the aspect I find more interesting and spiritual about 赵朴初's life story.
Here's a program that not long ago was shown on PBS which had some practical advice to baby boomers looking to retire.
http://pressroom.pbs.org/programs/retire_smart_retire
RETIRE SMART, RETIRE HAPPY
– It’s More Than Having Money in the Bank –
Nearly 6,000 Americans turn 65 every day; that figure will jump to 9,000 as the baby boomers age. Are they — you — ready for retirement? Money in the bank isn’t the only consideration. The CEO of a major corporation, for example, a man with a million-dollar pension, found life after retirement meaningless and hollow. Says Dr. Nancy K. Schlossberg, an author and lecturer, “Everyone knows about the need for a strong financial portfolio, but you need to get your psychological portfolio in order: your identity, activities and relationships.”
In RETIRE SMART, RETIRE HAPPY, airing as part of the June 2007 pledge drive (check local listings) on PBS, Schlossberg presents tips and strategies to help combat some common problems and emotional challenges that can occur as Americans move from work to retirement: loss of identity, loss of purpose, loss of community, empty days, turf battles, family dynamics, caretaking, spirituality, sexuality and intimacy.
RETIRE SMART, RETIRE HAPPY, taped before an audience at the Calderwood Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, uses self-assessment quizzes and real-life retirement stories to help viewers investigate this major life transition. A female mayor in the West was busy enough in her retirement, she said, but missed the power to get things done. Another woman, who admitted she was burnt out at work and happy to retire, was surprised by how much she missed the social connections. She didn’t miss work — she missed the workplace.
“So many of us feel that we are what we do,” said executive producer Darcy Corcoran, “and when work stops we can lose our sense of self. A quote that brought it home to me was from a man who said, ‘I used to be a big fish in a small pond. Now, I’m just a fish.’”
A counseling psychologist, author and lecturer who specializes in mid-life, aging, transitions and coping, Dr. Schlossberg shows viewers how understanding their retirement “type” — “adventurer,” “easy glider,” “continuer,” “searcher” or “retreater” — can help put their strengths and resources to work.
In addition, Dr. Schlossberg, a retiree herself, presents positive steps to a happy retirement, teaching the audience how to conduct a personal inventory, reinforce relationships, investigate new roles and activities, and take charge of the future.
Schlossberg has been featured in USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Business Week, Smart Money, Better Homes and Gardens and many other publications. She has consulted for major corporations and associations, including police unions, Ford Motor Company, World Bank, Blue Cross and American Express, and has published eight books on life transitions, including her latest, Retire Smart, Retire Happy, on which this program is based.

| | | ysun États-Unis Local time: 00:36 anglais vers chinois + ...
