I only have two meals a day and try not to snack. It's not good for the waistline. How much work I have isn't so much a factor as how good a relationship I have with my scales at any time .... | | | Celine Gras France Local time: 18:27 anglais vers français + ... Without eating, I can't function. No food, no work or bad work, it is as simple as that. | | | Interlangue (X) Angola Local time: 18:27 anglais vers français + ... I don't either | Mar 5, 2010 |

No food - no brain function!
The things I skip when really busy: housework, messing about on the internet, keeping in touch with friends (not good!), ironing - I become queen of the crumpled look.
But I NEVER skip meals. | | | I never skip meals either... | Mar 5, 2010 |
... and eat whenever I am hungry (but I will probably eat something on the light side). | | | Meals become snacks | Mar 5, 2010 |
I don't usually stop eating when I'm very busy, but meals tend to become snacks, as I don't have time to prepare food or eat a large meal.

The local red, the equally-local Muscat dessert wine and sparkling white - they all stay in their bottles for a while.
Snacks I've never gone for anyway - I find them totally unnecessary, just serving to increase the income of industrial manufacturers, dentists and the rest of the medical profession. Three good, balanced meals a day are enough for anyone, busy or idle. | | | Tatty Local time: 18:27 espagnol vers anglais + ... Extremely busy... | Mar 5, 2010 |
I just wouldn't take on that much work in the first place. Those who skip meals what a desperate lot! Is it all really worth it... | | | Just like Catherine... | Mar 5, 2010 |

They're programmed into the working day as functional brain breaks.

In my case it has more to do with miscalculation than desperation. I occasionally skip breakfast or lunch when I've underestimated the time it will take to complete a project, but I will never miss dinner as there is nothing worse than going to bed hungry. Apples, bananas, nuts and liquorice keep me going when there's no time to stop.
It can be different working in a high-pressure office environment: "lunch is for wimps" a former boss of mine used to say. | | | DianeGM Local time: 19:27 Membre (2006) néerlandais vers anglais + ... Except dinner | Mar 5, 2010 |
I can skip on most everything when I'm really involved in something or other.
Mostly I just forget, no question of time pressure.
That goes for everything except dinner. My kids go to sports after school. My husband cooks and then goes and picks them up. Our kids get back from after school sports - they scream "Mummy, Daddy, I'm hungry" in stereo, with any delay they just shut down my computers - no questions asked.
DINNER trumps - at least in our house.

I ALWAYS have a supply of fruit, carrots, good Danish rye bread, cheese and coffee.
Meals may only be snacks, but it takes very little time to assemble a plate of sensible fast-food, which I can eat as I search for terminology or proofread if necessary.
But when I´m really busy I have to be strict about short, frequent breaks, or the standard of my work plummets.

I have learnt a few things from my workaholic husband. He knows just when to come by with a cup of tea, then creep away again. Or order pizza... Then when the job is done, we do make a point of taking time off properly in between. ▲ Collapse | | | Pages sur ce sujet: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: When extremely busy, I usually skip...
