I usually organise my family's schedule according to my work. :0)

I do not have children at the moment, so it takes a lot of organizing concerns away I think. I am sure someone can comment on how they find coping with working from home and having children?
When I have visitors from abroad, important meetings or family reunions, I arrange my schedule so that I can be there. Family is important!

- you organise your family's schedule according to your work?
- you organise your schedule according to your family's work?

If the work is very big and requires a lot of my attention my husband organizes the first necessities of the family and I take over the job until I finish it all the way.
It all depends on how many days I have and the sort of work I have to accomplish.

I organize my work time based on my family's schedule. I work from home and have very young twins, so it gets.... frustrating.... sometimes. Luckily, I have a live-in helper that can watch the kids pretty much 24/7 if necessary. But I try to take care of the basic needs and do the basic Mommy stuff, then I work. I have spend many nights with very little sleep.

The "family" in question being my partner - he works office hours, Monday to Friday and doesn't work weekends, so I tend to keep the same schedule.

I try not to work at week-ends and sometimes bank holidays when kids and wife are not at school/work. And I sleep at night and work during the day.

I simply cannot. We are working 24/7, simply impossible. Since I divorced, I try to share my time between the children and the office. But my plan is definitely to go to the opera before Christmas and having some more private life next year..

It's a bit in my dreams!
I don't work on Sundays because we visit my mother in law. Otherwise my son is grown up - and was never spoilt if we had work to do at odd hours... and I'm married to a workaholic, so I just work roughly when he does!
My motto is don't forget to live when you have earned your living. We've had guests this month and been to supper with the neighbours. Three weekends are booked next month - even if one is work (the London conference)! Don't mentio... See more It's a bit in my dreams!

Next year I plan to take more time off - and the other workaholic is supposed to be retiring! We just might have more time to take some exercise, get some air and go to a concert or an exhibition or two, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't know why we are so bad at saying no to work, but my parents were no better... I think it is an inherent part of being self-employed and liking your job.

I try to work while my girls are at the school (all morning) and sometime among homeworks, ballet classes, birthday parties, etc. I try not to work at night or during weekends but sometimes it is impossible. But I am OK with it, I prefer to spend time with my girls and work all night than having a regular 8 to 5 work at the office with no time for them.

I try to organise my work according to my family's schedule wherever and whenever possible, sometimes it's the other way around - I organise the family's schedule according to my work - at the moment, with no children, it's easy enough to do and I have a very supportive family!!!

I have a daughter who is just under 1 and she goes to nursery part-time. I work when she's at nursery and spend quality time with her when she is home with me. This does mean I also have to work a few evenings while she's in bed but I'd rather that than miss out on spending time with her. It does limit the amount of work I can take on but she will only be a baby once and I have the rest of my life to work all the hours God sends!

I in fact turned to translating full time when I had my daughter, so I could be there for her - pick her up for lunch some days, from school every day, etc. It can be quite stressful when I have a lot of work - I do pull some late nights once she's asleep - but overall it's a great life compared to the usual Spanish work schedule when parents get home at 7-8 pm.
