need help teaching russian pronunciation

Hi guys,

need suggestions on what is the best way to teach an American English speaker how to correctly (or close enough...) pronounce the Russian soft consonants ( like in "nomer", "vecher", "klyatve" Petya) as well as "myagkiy znak" and the i in "mi" and "vi" and "ti".

Refer to English words where the sounds are pronounced in a similar way.
