What is 'budget information'? Auteur du fil: writeaway

I just read a job posted by a fellow translator at an unacceptably low rate, so of no interest. However I did notice that 'budget information' was marked as hidden. I clicked for more info and saw that 'members' (I assume members means people who pay for full membership) can choose whether or not they can see the 'budget information'. No option was visible (I am not a full member).

Thanks. I get the idea now. There is no mention this would be exclusively a (full)member only option. Fortunately I don't think it matters much whether one can see the 'budget' or not. | |

Thanks. But what is the actual benefit of seeing the budget? Isn't the word/line price more interesting for freelancers? I can see the interest in the budget for people who take jobs and then outsource them to others. | | | Many service providers prefer to see budget information before quoting | Apr 5, 2010 |

Hello writeaway,
As Madeleine points out, the recent changes to the job posting system allow outsourcers to specify a budget range that is not made visible by default but only accessible to members who (1) have expressed a preference to consider client budgets and (2) meet the specified job criteria.

As FAQs state, many service providers prefer to see the client's budget before they invest the time necessary to quote. The changes to be implemented respect the preferences of these members and at the same time leave no room for misunderstanding the fact that the translator is in the best position to determine what he or she needs to charge to deliver the requisite quality on a given job.
Hope this clarifies,
