Happy about the past, uncertain for the future. Jan 5

Professionally 2024 was my second best year ever, with only a few hundreds of euros short of my best year ever. So, I couldn't be much happier about my translation year.

The future, however, is more uncertain than ever. We are amid a worrying mix of rising geopolitical tensions, rather pessimistic economic forecasts and an increasing influence of AI and machine translation on our profession.

Things to mitigate the worries:

Things to mitigate the worries:

- January has started off well, with already a few orders confirmed and a few others in the pipeline. It also happened to be the least good month in 2024, so I wouldn't worry too much if that would be the case once again.

- I've looked into the publicly available numbers of my main customers and they all seem to be doing still okay until now.

Ready for a new year Jan 6

Although 2024 was a good year for me professionally, there was a lot of negative mood music in the media. New Year's resolution - less doom scrolling!

Grateful for the professional wins but glad to turn a new page.
