I was short-listed for some work recently. The outsourcer indicated that the objective for delivering tmx files was developing the TM.
My query: isn't it self-defeating for a translator to provide a file that builds the vocabulary of another who in the future, by adding more and more to their database, would be able to MT or nearly, bypassing the poor translators who built (often for very little money!) their database?
Thanks for any appropriate discussion.
