Following previous queries about this feature, I decided as an experiment to log out and to post a question as a "non-logged in visitor". When the question appeared (after a delay of 6 days), the page was in a dumbed down format which does not allow me to:
1) Respond to or thank other users
2) Add anything in the discussion box

Furthermore, when I logged in and viewed the question it informs me that I have 32 open questions, which is patently incorrect.

What exactly is the point of this feature, which completely prevents any interaction between the asker and other users? I would appreciate an answer from Site Staff.

Don't hold your breath... Oct 23

They took months to answer a query from me on this subject, and said that non-logged-in visitors were sent a password that enabled them to interact with others.

If your experience is anything to go by, this is not the case.

I agree that if these people can't talk to us, or say thank you, or award points -- and it's not their fault -- they shouldn't be able to ask questions.

There probably WAS a point in it ... at the time when proz.com was freshly created and needed some way of making itself known for free.

Today it's no more than what I would call "an archaeological layer", long overdue for retirement.
