Does anybody here use electronic business cards? If you do, how did you go about making them? Is there a good online site? Anything free or that doesn't cost that much? Thanks for any help someone may have.

No, I don't. Different business cards require different software to use it. Take vCard, for example -- I don't have a vCard reader, so it's useless for people to attach a vCard file to their e-mails when sending me mail. It would have been better if they simply had a descriptive signature.
I recently saw two people try to exchange business cards using their cellphones. If they had paper business cards, they would have exchanged it in 5 seconds. But each couldn't get his cellphone to communicate with the other's, and the entire business card exchange took more than 5 minutes even though they were 5 meters away from each other.

I agree completely with you, Samuel. An informative signature at the end of an e-mail is very often the very best solution, can be read properly by any recipient and they don't have to worry about any software.
Your example with the communication between two mobiles is simply great. And often you know better after 3 months where you have put the paper business card rather than wher to find that file on your mobile, or the vCard file on your computer etc. There's a good saying for this in Germany (that's what we say when people get too complicated): "Why make it easy when there's a more complicated solution?"

I don't see the point.
If you exchange emails you can attach all the information required as a signature.
Especially regarding those little interactive ones: Why do you want the recipient to have nasty little cookies on their computer and such? Beware of the free downloads!
We have to keep our machines clean. Opening unannounced attachments? No way. I am not messing up my computer to serve other peoples vanity.

I assumed that the best route was a signature at the end of an email, in fact that is what I am already doing. The other day I had someone ask me for a business card and it just got me thinking. I guess it really isn't that big of deal. It just made me think it would be nice to have something to give to them to print out if they wanted to maybe. I ended up sending him the information that I send in my signature. Ok, thanks everyone for your thoughts.

Well, if you meet people in person, a business card is certainly one way to get into their minds, and if this person is a secretary or administrative assistant somewhere, no doubt he'll have a file with many people's business cards in it. If yours is in it too, you have an advantage over the bloke who only sent a signature.
