Brummies are used to this sort of thing - it's a very cosmopolitan city.
A few years ago Birmingham took delivery of the big ferris wheel that had previously been in Paris, complete with on-board commentary. For 3 months the locals had the joy of watching Birmingham's questionable delights sail by to the accompaniment of comments about the Eiffel Tower and the like. This fortuitous and surreal error proved to be quite an attraction in its own right.
