I will be there for sure, thanks for your efforts, Andreea, I hope we can mobilise the infamously huge translator community of the EU capital - anyone engaged in such work here, please join us
I hope to come. But as it is a Friday evening, would it be helpful to be more specific on timing, and of course, exact location? It'll be my first powwow as well... Hopefully not the last ;)
Thank you girls for the interest. I was thinking to hold the powwow in a central place like Grand Place, or a fairly known place, in case people from other towns or countries want to come and don't really know Brussels; but I'm open to suggestions. Plus we should take into consideration the fact that it might rain and we need a restaurant/cafe with a covered terrace. What do you think?

I am so sorry and so jealous at the same time. Finally, I will not make it before the end of August. Maybe we can organise sth else a bit later. For the cafes, I recommend St Gery.

How about we meet at 18:00. For freelancers time shouldn't be much of a problem, but the people that work at the institutions and in other businesses usually finish by 17:30. Still, if it's too early, we could make it 19:00 or even postpone it to Saturday when we would have more time.

Location - just a thought and suggestion

Don't you think a quieter place, where we could stand and move around to meet each others at ease, would be more suitable? For exemple, "Le pain quotidien", rue des Tongres (close to Mérode), might accept to reserve their upper floor for us. However, closes at 7pm...

Friday night in that pub promises to be very crowded. Phoned them and pub is not smoke-free and warm meals are only served until 9. p.m Agree with Verbon that a quieter and/or less crowded venue may be preferable.

I'm living for several years in BXL. The "James Joyce" is indeed not that what we "need".
To loud, to crowded ...

Does everyone agree with the location proposed by Aurore - Cose Cosi? We could switch to this location if it's fine with everyone. I don't know it, personnally, but it sounds good.
