About me:
Born in Germany, but with constant French
and English influences.
Language studies: 8 years philology in
French and English.
German state examination for teachers in
secondary education.
Moved to France in 1976 to take up a
position as head of documentation at the German-French Chamber of Commerce in
Paris.
Moved during the trial period to a
German-French company during their founding process: A subsidiary of KRUPP-WASAG-CHEMIE,
dealing with industrial construction and plant engineering. My job covered the
handling of construction and facility procedures for turnkey factories around
the world.
I left this company in 1978 to become a
freelancer.
I have also taught and continue to teach at
high schools, universities and adult education.
My two main areas of specialisation as a
translator/interpreter since 1978 cover technology and law:
Technology:
·
Patents in all my specialist
fields.
·
Civil engineering, building and
constructions, planning offices, architects, technology centres, certification
bodies, site designers, patent lawyers, audits, due diligence, expert opinions.
·
Processing and monitoring of
construction sites (examples include holiday villages, high-rises for German
banks in Paris and Germany, hotels, senior citizen housing). This includes
complete written documentation from tender to acceptance, site
meetings/inspections, negotiations in engineering offices, specialist documentation,
reports, etc.
·
Factory visits and interpreting
during instruction of technicians for machine tools, CNC turning centres.
·
Satellite-controlled navigation
systems on German frigates (training sessions for heads of naval schools,
technicians and customer service technicians, including translation and
interpreting on site).
·
Cosmetics: Translation of
product specifications, package leaflets, packaging, analyses, interpreting at
corresponding strategy meetings, training sessions for beauticians. I know most
brands inside and out.
·
Quality assurance
·
Manuals, descriptions,
instructions.
Law:
Lawyers, court texts, sentences,
applications, invitations, contracts, patent litigation, expert opinions.
I am a dedicated translator; this is my
world.
I deliver high-class, print-ready texts
following intensive and appropriate research in your field, with your contacts.
I visit factories, observe technical processes, work closely with lawyers and
courts, constantly assimilating knowledge.
No quality problems in over 40 years. In
fact, after receiving my translations, numerous clients (particularly in the
legal field) have realised what risks they could have been subject to because
they did not have the necessary linguistic expertise and could not “read between
the lines”.
My basic rule: I only accept texts in the
specialist areas I am expert in.
Your text is in the best hands with me and
I guarantee absolute discretion.
