Texte source - anglais All the blame for the death of Father Cosmas was heaped on Big Father. And he had many people to exaggerate and concretize all the allegations against him. One of them was Foka, a young man whom Big Father had tried to punish by sending him a hundred kilometers on foot to get nails because he had slapped a big girl very badly in the doctrine class. Someone had passed out bad air and Biy had said that it was Foka, and when Foka denied that he was the one who did it Biy insisted that it was him. So Foka slapped her. When he heard his punishment Foka said openly in front of Big Father that he was not going to Bamenda and he walked out of the doctrine class.
Traduction - français On reprochait avec véhémence la mort du Père Comas à Big Father. De nombreuses personnes lançaient de fausses accusations montées de toutes pièces contre lui particulièrement Foka. C’était un jeune homme que Big Father avait essayé de punir en l’envoyant bien loin chercher des clous parce qu’il avait donné une bonne gifle à une grande fille pendant le cours de catéchèse. Quelqu’un avait pété et Biy disait que c’est Foka, Foka à son tour niait que ce n’est pas lui qui l’avait fait mais Biy s’acharnait à dire le contraire. Là-dessus, Foka la gifla. Lorsqu’il entendit sa punition, Foka dit effrontément à Big Father qu’il n’ira pas à Bamenda et quitta la classe.
