I am originally a psychologist by training, with significant personal and professional experience translating between French and English.
After studying French extensively at Wellesley College and completing a study abroad program in Belgium, I later moved to Brussels and spent over 10 years there. During that time, I completed a master's degree in clinical psychology. The program was entirely in French and I also wrote my thesis in French. Much of the research I used for my thesis was in English, requiring me to translate the findings.
I later worked for the Erasmus Hospital in Brussels assisting psychologists and medical doctors translate and edit their articles to be published in scientific journals. My more recent translation experience has been as a freelancer through Elance.com. The documents I have translated from French to English have included business websites, transcriptions of interviews talking about social issues, technical documents, and governmental agreements. |
