The Transfer Station will be supplied with the following vehicles and equipment:
One (1) truck for transportation of filled 30 m3 containers to the regional landfill in 2014 - from 2024 two (2) trucks. The truck will be three-axled and supplied with a hydraulic hook lift device for handling of containers. Furthermore the trucks will be able to haul a trailer with a filled 30 m3 container and handle the container on the trailer.
One (1) trailer - three-axled - for transportation of filled 30 m3 containers to the landfill - from 2024 two (2) transport trailers. The trailers will be supplied with hydraulic devise for one-way tipping.
One (1) tractor suitable for handling the containers at the lower level when the transport truck is on duty hauling containers. The tractor shall be equipped with hydraulic lifting devise, which enable the tractor to raise the front end of the container and then haul the container on its steel rollers in the back end.
Six (6) containers - 30 m3 - with rolling tarpaulin on the top in 2014 increasing to twelve (12) containers in 2033 at the end of the planning period.
One (1) bobcat used for rough cleaning up at the upper level. The bobcat will have a front shovel enable it to discharge spilled waste to the containers placed at the lower level.
Small hand tools and a small high pressure flusher.
It is envisages that the economic lifetime of the vehicles and equipment will be 10 years. After ten years the vehicles and equipment are worn out and will be replaced.
Examples of a transfer trucks with trailer and without trailer and the hook lift device are shown below.
Location and area
The landfill in Charentsavan is located along hillsides 3-4 km to the north of the town centre, approximately 3 km to the west of the Yerevan-Sevan Highway. From the public road, the site is entered via a 1-2 km access road of poor condition. The dumpsite is owned by a nearby village.
The site is surrounded by a water reservoir (east of the site), a cemetery (south-east of the site), a railroad (west of the site), a factory (south of the site) and few nearby households. The distance to the nearest village is 1-2 km.
The dumpsite covers an area of approximately 1.5 ha; however waste is scattered disposed along the access road as well as on a larger area around the site.
Recommendation for closure activities
The Charentsavan dumpsite is small but still has a size and shape which will require an effort to reduce the environmental impacts and secure the stability of the site.
For closure and remediation of Charentsavan dumpsite the following main activities is proposed:
Excavate waste from the steep slopes and reload the waste on top of the site. The slopes shall be 1:2 or less steep.
Excavate a zone approximately 4 m wide between the downhill road and the dumpsite.
Establish a surface water ditch surrounding the dumpsite. The ditch should have a slope at minimum 0.1% and in lowest point connected to a collection (and control) well prior the outlet pipe (preferable into an existing ditch or ravine)
Relocate the (former) access road to a location east of the relocated waste body
Establish a ditch up-hill the dumpsite to intercept all unpolluted water from entering the waste body. The interception ditch shall be connected to an outlet pipe downstream the dumpsite (preferable into an existing ditch or ravine)
Regulate and compact the waste and cover it with minimum 0.8 m of soil and 0.1-0.2 m of topsoil. Where slopes are steeper than 1:3 the topsoil should be reinforced with an erosion mat product (e.g. Enkamat S)
Seed the surface with grass. In particular at steep slopes a fast growing and robust grass type is required to prevent erosion grooves.

Excavation and relocation of waste
As the existing volume of waste is not specific defined (and more waste will be disposed on the site until Hrazdan landfill is ready for operation in 2014) the exact volume of the work is unclear. The shape of the site can differ from what is presented on drawing 73807-101.
All waste located at the slopes steeper than 1:2 shall be excavated/removed and disposed on top of the waste plateau.
Unloading and compaction of the relocated waste shall take place in layers not thicker than 0.5 m. Each layer shall be compacted with a heavy steel wheel compactor (min. 20 tons) with minimum 3 passes.
All scattered waste disposed along the access road and in the surrounding area (radius 500 m from the dumpsite) shall be collected and disposed at the dumpsite.
The slope of the top of the remediated dump shall, where possible, have a slope away from the steep slopes to avoid surface water running over the edge and down the slope as this would increase the risk for erosion problems at the slopes.
When all waste is relocated the surface shall be compacted by a heavy steel wheel compactor. All surfaces with a slope less than 1:3 shall be compacted by minimum 3 passes in both directions. The steep slopes shall as most as possible be compacted from the toe of the slope and up-hill.
During excavation and removal of the exiting waste the Contractor shall carefully observe the condition of the waste. Excavation and removal of the waste shall take place in as thin layers as possible to prevent fire in the waste.
If fires arise in the waste during excavation, removal or unloading of the waste the following actions shall take place:
Isolate the waste in fire, if possible, and extinguish with water, soil cover or let it burn out
Cover the area in fire with soil (There should always be a pile of soil (min. 100 m3) located close to the dump)
Prevent the fire from spreading by construction of soil piles around the area in fire
As the dumped waste will generate methane and carbon dioxide (Methane is not toxic; however, it is extremely flammable and may form explosive mixtures with air. Methane and carbon dioxide is also asphyxiant and may displace oxygen in an enclosed space) During excavation and removal of the waste the contractor shall be aware off to have good ventilation in the working area.
All machines used on the site shall have pressure cabins.
All persons working on the site shall wear suitable protective close when working on the dumpsite.
Perimeter ditches and interception ditch
A perimeter ditch shall be constructed around the waste body. Depth of the ditch shall be at minimum 0.5 m and with a minimum slope at 0.1% towards the deepest point.
At the deepest point a ø1.0 m precast concrete collection and control well shall be established. The well shall have a sand trap of minimum 300 l which also can be used for water sampling.
Up-hill the waste body and the relocated (and former) access road an interception ditch shall be established for interception of all unpolluted surface water from entering into the remediated dumpsite. The interception ditch shall have a depth of minimum 0.5 m and with a minimum slope at 0.1% towards the deepest point. The interception ditch shall be connected to an outlet pipe downstream the dumpsite (preferable into an existing ditch or ravine)
Covering of waste body
After regulation and compaction of the waste body a minimum 0.8 m thick layer of soil shall be delivered to the site, unloaded, regulated and compacted on the entire waste surface.
A bottom part of the soil layer shall also be used for final regulation of the waste surface and the reel thickness of the soil layer is most likely 0.8-1.2 m.
The composition of the soil can be clay or clayed soil e.g. loam, sand or gravel; however complying the following minimum specifications:
Max. grain size = 0,20 m
Content of organic materials less than 20%
Possible to compact and stabilise at slopes up to 1:2 (Different of of soil types can be used on slopes and on top of the remediated sump)
A topsoil (humus) layer of 0.1-0.2 m shall be placed on top of the soil. The topsoil layer shall be free of larger stones (max. grain size 0.1 m) and other impurities.
On slopes steeper than 1.3 the topsoil shall be reinforced with installation of a erosion mats fixed to the soil by wooden pegs per minimum each 1 m2. Ekamat S or similar product can be used. Installation of erosion mats shall be in accordance with the manufactures specifications.
The topsoil shall be seeded with a fast growing grass type and in particular on the slopes the grass type shall have a stable root system to prevent erosion of the surface.
Relocation of (former) access road
Along the eastern boundary of the dumpsite a new relocated access road shall be constructed.
The access road is constructed with:
0-0.8 m base coarse regulation layer
0.15 m Mechanical Stabilized Gravel
All gravel layers shall be compacted in layers not thicker than 0.25 m and to a compaction degree not less than 95% standard proctor.
Recommendation for closure activities
The Byureghavan dumpsite is small and the environmental impact from the site is limited or even negligible.
For closure and remediation of Byureghavan dumpsite 2 options seams possible:
1. Regulate and compact the household waste in the excavations and cover it with minimum 1 m of soil
Or alternatively:
2. Excavate all (organic) household waste and transport it to the new landfill at Hrazdan.

Closure of Byureghavan dumpsite by leaving the on site will require the following activities:
Regulate and compact exposed waste and if required waste already disposed and covered with less than 1 m of soil. Waste shall be regulated in a way that make it possible to install 1 m of top soil above the waste
4.000 m3 of top soil is assumed required for covering the waste after regulation and compaction. The amount of C&D waste already available at the site is more than sufficient to cover the waste.
Demolish the remaining concrete structures at the site and crush the concrete to reasonable size for covering the waste and filling of remaining excavations.
Sort C&D waste already disposed on the site. Non inert waste such as wood, plastic, paper and cardboard etc. are removed and disposed together with household waste in excavations.
Fill minimum 1 m of C&D waste on top of the household waste and used the surplus C&D waste for regulation of the area
Survey the area and register the area with household waste as this area will have limitation of use henceforward.
The gas generation is low and fading and is assumed not critical for surrounding building in particular if C&D waste is used as top cover due to high permeability in C&D waste. No particular mitigating measures are assumed required to secure surrounding buildings due to gas diffusion from the Byureghavan dumpsite. However if new buildings are build on the site close to (

Տեղակայումը և տարածքը
Չարենցավանում գտնվող թափոնների հորատեղը ձգվում է սարալանջերի երկայնքով` քաղաքի կենտրոնից 3-4 կմ դեպի հյուսիս, Երևան-Սևան Մայրուղուց համարյա 3 կմ դեպի արևմուտք: Գլխավոր փողոցից 1-2 կմ հեռավորության վրա սկսվում է վատթար վիճակում գտնվող փողոց: Աղբավայրի տարածքը պատկանում է մոտակա գյուղին:
Տարածքի շրջակայքում գնտվում է ջրամբար (տարածքի արևելյան հատվածում), գերեզմանատուն (տարածքի հարավ-արևելյան մասում), երկաթուղի (արևմտյան մասում), գարծարան (հարավային հատվածում) և մի քանի մոտակա տներ: Այն գնտվում է մոտակա գյուղից 1-2 կմ հեռավորության վրա:
Աղբավայրը զբաղեցնում է մոտավորապես 1.5 հա տարածք, թերևս թափոնը ցրված է ինչպես ճանապարհի երկայնքով, այնպես էլ տեղամասի շուրջը հսկայական տարածության վրա:
Հանձնարարական տեղամասի փակման գործողությունների վերաբերյալ
Չարենցավանի աղբավայրը թեև փոքր է, բայց և այնպես այն ունի այնպիսի չափեր և կաղապար, որոնք ջանքեր են պահանջում` շրջապատի ազդեցությունը նվազեցնելու և տեղամասի անվտանգությունը ապահովելու համար:
Որպեսզի Չարենցավանի աղբավայրը փակվի և վերականգնվի, առաջարկվում է իրականացնել հետևյալ գործողությունները.
Արտափորել թափոնները զառիթափ լանջերից և այն լցնել տեղանքի վերին հատվածում: Լանջերը պետք է լինեն 1:2 հարաբերությամբ կամ պակաս զառիթափ:
արտափորել գոտին մոտավորապես 4 մ լայնությամբ զառիթափ ճանապարհի և աղբավայրի միջև ընկած տարածքում:
Աղբավայրի շրջակայքում կառուցել ջրհոր: Ջրհորը պետք է ունենա նվազագույնը 1.0% զառիթափություն, իսկ ամենացածր մակարդակում այն պետք է միացված լինի ընդհանուր (կարգավորման) ջրամբարին, որից պետք է դուրս գա ելքային խողովակը (նախընտրելի է, որ այն հոսի դեպի ներկայիս ջրհորը կամ լեռնագոգը):
Ճանապարհը փոխել (նախկին) դեպի տեղափոխած թափոնների արևելյան հատվածը:
Կառուցել ջրհոր աղբավայրի լեռնային վերին հատվածում` կանխելու ոչ աղտոտված ջրի` թափոնների մեջ լցվելը: Տվյալ ջրհորը պետք է միացված լինի աղբավայրի ներքին հատվածով անցնող ելքային խողովակին (նախընտրելի է, որ այն հոսի դեպի արդեն գոյություն ունեցող առուն կամ լեռնագոգը):
Կանոնավորել և համակարգել թափոնները և դրանք ծածկել նվազագույնը 0.8 մ հողով և 0.1-0.2 մ մակերեսային հողով: Այնտեղ, որտեղ լանջերը 1:3 հարաբերությունից ավելի թեք են, մակերեսային հողը պետք է ամրացվի էրոզիայի դեմ օգտագործվող պահպանիչ նյութով (օր. Enkamat S):
Մակերևույթը ցանել խոտով: Հատկապես զառիթափ լանջերին պահանջվում է ցանել արագ աճող և դիմացկուն տեսակի խոտ` էրոզիայի ակոսների առաջացումը կանխելու համար:

Թափոնների փորումն ու տեղահանումը
Քանի որ թափոնների ներկայիս ծավալը հստակորեն որոշված չէ (և ավելի շատ թափոն դեռևս կփոխադրվի դեպի տվյալ տեղանք նախքան Հրազդանի թափոնների հորատեղի շահագործման անցնելը 2014թ.). աշխատանքի իրական ծավալը պարզ չէ: Տեղանքի որվագիծը կարող է տարբեր լինել 73807-101 գծանկարում ներկայացված պատկերից:

Եթե թափոնների փորման, հեռացման կամ դատարկման ընթացքում թափոններում հրդեհ է բռնկվում, պետք է կատարել հետևյալ գործողությունները.
մեկուսացնել այրվող թափոնները, եթե հնարավոր է, և այն մարել ջրով, հողի շերտով կամ թողնել, որ այրվելով կրակը դադարի,
այրվող տարածքը ծածկել հողով (միշտ պետք է լինի աղբավայր մոտ դրված մի կույտ հող` նվազագույնը 100մ3,
կանխել հրդեհը տարածվելուց` այրվող տարածքի շուրջը հողի կույտեր ստեղծելով:
Քանի որ թափած աղբը առաջացնում է մեթան և ածխաթթու գազ (մեթանը չափազանց դյուրավառ է և կարող է օդի հետ պայթուցիկ խառնուրդ ստեղծել. մեթանը և ածխածնի երկօքսիդը թունավոր նյութեր են և կարող են փակ տարածքում թթվածնի սպառման պատճառ հանդիսանալ), թափոնների արտափորելու և հեռացնելու ժամանակ աղբահավաքը տվյալ վայրում աշխատելիս պետք է անպայման ապահոված լինի թթվածնով:
