Bio
MARCELLA SEGRE
Expert community/conference interpreter with a Master’s Degree in Conference Interpreting (EN/FR/IT/SP). HIPAA certified, with excellent communication & organizational skills, almost 20 years experience as a professional freelancer, I enjoy working independently and in a team, remotely and in multicultural settings. I have provided my expertise to companies, institutions and organizations across Europe and Asia in a variety of industries, developing strong ability to adapt to different cultures and professional approaches.
Specialised in Environment/Conservation/Sustainability and in Migration/Social Sciences, experienced in Medical and Legal.
BACKGROUND
Graduated first in Translation and Interpreting (English-French-Spanish) at ISTI in Brussels, Belgium, then specialized in Conference Interpreting (Italian-English-French) at SSLMIT in Forli, Italy, I have been working as a freelance translator, interpreter and content writer since 2006.
I have lived and studied in English and French speaking countries (Belgium, France, Australia, Singapore) and worked in multi linguistic settings across Europe and Asia, gaining excellent oral and written skills in these languages. Besides freelancing for a variety of translation agencies, since 2010 I have been collaborating with the Italian Embassy in Singapore and the Italian Institute of Culture as an official sworn translator, specializing in translation of Legal and Business documents. I regularly write articles and create content in English, French and Italian for online and printed publications. Over the years, I have written hundreds of articles, mainly specializing in nature & environment, tourism & travel, design & architecture, science & spirituality, fashion & lifestyle.
My work experience as a museum curator at LKC Natural History in Singapore and as a content writer and project manager in the Travel and Tourism industry have enriched my culture and terminology in fields such as biology, sustainability, science, architecture as well as geography, cultures and history of Southeast Asia. Moreover, extensive volunteering work in a variety of environmental and social projects in Europe and in Asia contribute to my expertise in the fields of social science and sustainable living.
Last but not least, I have been the Associate and Translation Manager of my family's film production company I Cammelli for about 20 years, for which I curated all translations, including subtitling of videos and documentaries as well as transcription and editing of scripts.
