This is a title in an editorial to a magazine on architecture that is being totally revamped

I can't get my head round this title and would welcome some help.

Here is a link which gives you a nice idea of the use of the idea plurality or "pluralite," which may be in the minds of your architechts. http://www.library.usyd.edu.au/libraries/rare/modernity/font...
Miranda Joubioux (X) (asker) Sep 14, 2009:
topical My thoughts were that it means "topical"/"current"

I feel that when they are talking about pluralité, that it refers to the positions held on such and such a style.
They must be impartial and therefore hold have many viewpoints/positions. I just can't phrase it right. It's a title and yet it's followed by "Car".
Not easy.
Emma Paulay Sep 14, 2009:
d'actualité? Hi, Miranda. What do you think they mean by "d'actualité"? "News"? Or "up to date"/"modern"/"contemporary"? Is it "Une revue qui traite de l'actualité", or "une revue actuelle"?

pluralistic

If it's an architectural revue then the meaning seems quite clear to me, they are not going to focus on or other particular style, but rather are going to have a pluralistic approach. I also take 'd'actualité' to mean up to date , but given the phrase that follows I might even say 'cutting edge'. Hope that helps. I think that Kant also wrote about the concept of pluralism so it might also be slightly philosophical.

agree B D Finch : Without the "ic" on the end: pluralist, pluralism - particularly associated with post-modernism

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "From my understanding of the OED entry, neither pluralist nor pluralistic is incorrect. I chose the latter, which came more naturally to me. Thanks for all your suggestions."

covering all aspects
from all angles

Or turn it round and say:
the magazine will be topical, but not restrictive

Or (if the tone is appropriate):
with a no holds barred approach

It's funny, I get the impression the author had "wake-up call" in mind when s/he wrote "sonner l'éveil"...!

Hello,

That's how I read.

d'actualité = arranged by topic

I hope this helps.
