Pizza nature salade
Again an item on a menu. I have found a couple of recipes for "pizza nature". One was just onion and tomato, as I'd expected, but the other had a mixture of "basic" toppings on. "Plain" or "basic pizza" don't sound that appetizing. Would it be a margherita?

margherita pizza/ cheese & tomato pizza
Pizza nature in France is usually what we call Margherita pizza in the UK. Ie. a basic cheese & tomato pizza. (The definition of Margherita pizza varies slightly from country to country). Pizza Nature in France is usually made with tomato topping with herbs, sometimes with chopped onions. Sometimes it is topped with grated cheese, sometimes not, so it would depend on the actual recipe used by the restaurant/cafe in question...

: In Italy a pizza margherita is always a cheese and tomato pizza, with no other toppings. All other pizzas are created from this, so it's what I would expect to get if I ordered a 'pizza nature'.

: All the pizzas called "vegetarian" that I've seen have some veggie topping-mushrooms,peppers and such-i.e. not really plain/"nature".

thanks Diantha, I am merely offering this as an alternative to "plain pizza", which would sound odd in a menu (at least in the U.S.)

: plain would sound odd in the UK too. Vegetarian as a translation of plain would be even odder as there are a few million of us here who like our pizzas with lots on but no meat!!

I think this would be OK on a bistrot type menu, but if it is for a restaurant with any pretensions to serious cuisine then you really have to confirm that it is a margherita - and then not only will it sound better but also avoid any confusion.
Just about sounds OK and keeps the responsibility for what it means with the restaurant.

I'm not sure it's a margherita pizza either because the French use the that word as well (marguerite).
classic pizza = standard = usual or most common pizza (whatever that is in France)

: there are lots of classic pizzas, like quattro stagione etc. classic means traditional, ie not a 'new' variety.
