In Nigeria, this lead to the creation of an illegal and alternative crypto economy. The Nigerian government has now restricted the use of cryptocurrencies as a payment method, infuriating Nigerian users and business owners. Will Nigeria follow the footsteps of El Salvador or will the government pull the longest straw?
