Bio
I am a professional, certified Indonesian translator with a decade plus experience working with four different languages.
Over the years I have spent as a translator, I have worked the most with:
Legal documents. Mostly agreements and court rulings, where I have to be extra careful to make sure that the exact meaning of the source text is plainly reproduced in Indonesian.
Books. I have translated numerous literary books from English, French and German into Indonesian. These in general pose a great deal of difficulty, but with it also comes a degree of liberty as to how to render the translation into a natural and melodious prose, sacrificing as little of the source text meaning as possible.
Marketing/advertising texts. I have translated many texts that are designed to pique the interest of prospective consumers, in which cases I always try to put myself in the audience's shoes and imagine what sort of text would entice me to learn more about the product in question.
User manuals. Again, with these jobs, I try to put myself in the place of the future readers of my translation, which means, on my part, learning about the equipment/appliance, as will said future leaders. For anything more technical, though, I am probably not the translator for the job.
