Communal areas are those areas of a house or a block of flats or a street or an estate which tenants have a right to use in common with other tenants and for which a landlord is responsible. Examples of communal areas are: shared parking areas shared gardens shared paths shared entrance halls shared staircases shared kitchens and bathrooms. Communal services are those that are provided in communal areas and which are provided for the benefit of more than one tenant.
