File descriptions
These are the names given in French to files providing information on items to ship that need to be up-loaded to the parcel company's server (descente) and a another file providing current and historic information on parcels in process/delivered (remontée). I don't know whether I should be looking for an IT term that refers to FTP's or just standard transport and shipping jargon! I would be grateful for any help but, in the mean-time, have been using 'Shipping file' and 'Events file' ... if that's not too silly.

I think Marc is essentially right, but he may be deviating too much from the original, these terms are after all not standard in French (as far as I am aware), another possibility anyway

Les échanges d’information entre XXX et ses clients s’opèrent par la transmission quotidienne de fichiers, classés en trois catégories.
- DESCRIPTIF DES FICHIERS :
· Fichier des codes postaux : (voir partie 2.1)
Ce fichier précise les localités desservies par XXX, avec le code du Centre d’Exploitation et le code de la tournée de livraison.
· Fichier de descente : (voir partie 2.2)
Ce fichier contient les éléments nécessaires à l’exécution de la livraison et au tracing. (n° de colis, adresse, poids, montant du contre remboursement,...)
· Fichier de remontée : (voir partie 2.3)
Ce fichier donne les informations sur les colis reçus, traités ou soldés, avec les dates, modes et motifs des évènements.
- TRANSFERT DES FICHIERS :
Les transferts de fichiers s’effectuent avec les protocoles FTP (file transfert protocol) sur un des espaces FTP du client.
