It's Friday again and it's time to unwind a bit. See more It's Friday again and it's time to unwind a bit. As I prepare to cut the cord (American English slang for cancel my cable TV subscription), I am reflecting on the years of good company some TV channels have given me, especially Nickelodeon since the late 90s. During that time (1991 through 1996 and beyond), I would often sit at the computer, correcting, proofing and translating the hours away as my casual loneliness was being soothed by the analog sound of human voices (and cartoon voices) coming from the TV (the telly for our Briton friends). So, I cultivated several favorites from Nickelodeon, the anti-Disney brigade of the times: Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats and Arnold! for instance. The year 1992 saw the birth of the Cartoon Channel, and those first years were chockful of wonderful animation gems from times past, from Betty Boop to Popeye to Bugs Bunny, as well as contemporary offerings such as Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, I am Weasel! (voiced by Star Trek alum Michael Dorn). I could make a list of my favorite cartoons. What's yours? The more exotic and foreign, the merrier!

Surreal, and a merciless critique of the value humans place upon things that don't matter at all. Loved that zany cartoon, and who can forget that red devil with no pants.
