comic book Explanation: It means comic book, it's making a direct reference towards that by pointing out previously that it could also be a Sci-Fi character. Also his drawing style does look like something out of a comic |

graphic novel Explanation: This is basically just a more highfalutin' version of "comic book" widely used nowadays. "Graphic novel, in American and British usage, a type of text combining words and images—essentially a comic, although the term most commonly refers to a complete story presented as a book"... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphic_novel Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joker_(graphic_novel) |

gaudy, comic-strip illustration Explanation: The asker herself did suggest 'coming (comic) book'. Das Kunstwerk 1966 magazine weblink in the Discussion Entries suggests figurative art with satirical caricatures 'modelled' on 'Nazi-stigmatised degenerate' German Expressionist Dada artists like Georg Grosz, Ottox Dix and Max Beckmann and that some of us had earnestly and gravely studied at English uni. on 'novel' French, Spanish & German Humour & Satire Courses. historiada : gaudy; ornate, Simon & Schuster Reference: http://www.proz.com/personal-glossaries/entry/12754156-comic... Reference Reference information: I may be way off the mark, but the text refers to a 'personaje de ilustración historiada', which makes me think of comic strip characters. A comic strip is a sequence of cartoons, arranged in interrelated panels to display brief humor or form a narrative, often serialized, with text in balloons and captions. Traditionally, throughout the 20th and into the 21st century, these have been published in newspapers and magazines, with daily horizontal strips printed in black-and-white in newspapers, while Sunday papers offered longer sequences in special color comics sections. With the advent of the internet, online comic strips began to appear as webcomics. Most strips are written and drawn by a comics artist, known as a cartoonist. As the word "comic" implies, strips are frequently humorous. Examples of these gag-a-day strips are Blondie, Bringing Up Father, Marmaduke, and Pearls Before Swine. In the late 1920s, comic strips expanded from their mirthful origins to feature adventure stories, as seen in Popeye, Captain Easy, Buck Rogers, Tarzan, and Terry and the Pirates. In the 1940s, soap-opera-continuity strips such as Judge Parker and Mary Worth gained popularity. Because "comic" strips are not always funny, cartoonist Will Eisner has suggested that sequential art would be a better genre-neutral name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_strip A collection of illustration to share some of the finest Mexican sequential art characters who had me inspired along the years. https://mparra.tumblr.com/post/649912751168290816/the-essent... In comics studies, sequential art is a term proposed by comics artist Will Eisner to describe art forms that use images deployed in a specific order for the purpose of graphic storytelling (i.e., narration of graphic stories) or conveying information. The best-known example of sequential art is comics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_art THE EVOLUTION OF SEQUENTIAL ART While The comic strip may be the most recognisable form of sequential art in today’s world, this art form actually predates comics by millennia. In fact, the human race has been using visuals to convey information or ‘stories’ long before the invention of the written word. Let’s take a brief look at the evolution of sequential art and its various forms throughout history. https://www.pulsecollege.com/what-is-sequential-art-from-his... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2023-10-28 17:03:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Science fiction or sequential art/comic strip character might work |
