Medical - Ressources humaines / resume / CV
Terme ou expression en français : médecine concours
This is another entry for a physician's CV. I have seen a lot of concours d'Internat but that is not the phrasing used here. The entry is

Interne en médecine concours: 1986.

Resident in medical examination? This is the first entry in the CV and the dates come towards the present from here. Would this mean the year he passed (or took) a residency exam? The phrasing seems strange to me and have been trying to figure out the best translation.

Interne en médecine concours
internship, competitive; medical intern in a competitive program

Explication :
(None of the other meanings of concours, such as "assistance", fits here.)
By the way, I think "interne" is intern, not resident. The two are different. Internship comes first.

First year of medical studies

Explication :
Or, completion of first year of medical studies. After this there is a competition (see link) for selection of specialization. Not sure you need to translate concours (referring to the competitive exam).

Demandeur : I am wondering if this is not the best option -- completion of first year of medical studies: 1986. The other option so far is Intern, medical examination: 1986. I think so far those are really the only two possibilities...

Désaccord  SJLD: no, that's a different exam, not for the "internat"/well exactly, "interne" is in the question - it's clear this is about the concours d'internat - not the first year of medical school

-> I have not mentioned internat at all. Nor I have mentioned interne. So not sure what the disagreement is about.

medical intern, examination (year): 1986

Explication :
The "concours" is basically a competitive exam in France and I believe that in many other countries, there is also an exam at the end of the internship year for medical students. So I would translate concours as examination.
A comma between interne en médecine and concours would help.

The reason for writing concours and not exam is because in medical schools in France the exams are competitive. When I was a student in France, I do remember medical students referring to their "concours" and I assume that within the medical profession in France it is common practice to mention "concours" in a CV.

Demandeur : Yes a comma would help! Its not the only place in this CV where the punctuation is confusing, if not incorrect. In thi case though, I'm not sure if it is a mistake (going on very little context) - am presuming now tht concours is exam, altho why he would list an exam (rather than just passing the test, receiving credentials) is not clear.
