In my documentary on youth unemployment in France, a young man has come to a training session. Here's what he says.

- On est là pour avoir un boulot et reprendre confiance en nous. Et puis voilà.
- Pourquoi "reprendre confiance" en vous ?
- À force de rester tout seul et de *se prendre des portes dans les dents*, au bout d'un moment, je pense qu'on manque de confiance en soi. J'ai envie de reprendre les choses en main.

This was one of those when as soon as I saw the translation, I thought, gosh that's obvious. But for some reason I just had a mental block and needed a bit of help. And that's why we need KudoZ sometimes!
