Hello,

I am looking for a term "unité d’œuvre technique" in english. Can it be "Technical unit of work"?

Reference;

La conception est le résultat de la traduction d’un besoin métier en unité(s) d’œuvre technique(s).

Current translation:

Design is the result of translating a business requirement into a technical unit(s) of work.

Please advise.

Accord  Thomas Miles: Ceci serait le terme par défaut.

Accord  AllegroTrans: short of better context, this direct translation fits, but as PG says, "technique" can often mean something entirely different to "technical". Asker needs to be careful.

unit of practical work

Explication :
A "work unit", as opposed to a "unit of work", leads me to think of a workshop space, perhaps in a garage or under the arches of a railway bridge, i.e. units which a landlord might rent out to craftspeople or artists. To avoid any such confusion, I think "unit of practical work" would work better in the given context. "practical" rather than "technical", because - as someone else has pointed out - "technique" is a broader term in French than just "technical".

Accord  AllegroTrans: Assuming this "unit" is indeed a space, surely we would say "practical work unit" and not "unit of practical work"? However, asker's explanationsuggests that the "unit" here is a measurement of working efficiency or output etc., not a physical location
