Near-field earthquake

The term 直下型地震　（ちょっかがたじしん） in Japanese is translated into English as near-field earthquake, which is an earthquake with a shallow focus directly under a populated area.

Would any professionals be able to supply an equivalent french term?

better ask in Japanese to English or Japanese to French language pair what exactly 直下型地震 could be; working from a dubious Japanese to English translation, without any original reference text in Japanese is not likely to give any good results ...

Merci. I should also mention that 直下型地震 literally means a "directly- below type earthquake". And that other English translations include "strong local earthquake". The recent Kumamoto earthquake in Kyushu was a 直下型地震. Note to Dario, I don't think there's anything dubious about the translation "near-field earthquake" - perhaps geologists use it.
I think WordArchitect's translation seems a fair one, considering the English given was "near-field earthquake", but thanks everyone for your replies.

"near-field" et "far-field" font référence à la distance séparant la station réceptrice de l'épicentre d'un séisme. D'après mes recherches, il est plus facile de mesurer les ondes sismiques en champ lointain qu'en champ proche car plus de ruptures dans le sol se font sentir, ce qui complique les mesures.
Donc on pourrait traduire comme ici (http://www.ucc5.com/download/10832555606/) "tremblements de terre en champ proche / en champ lointain".

disagree Daryo : earthquakes couldn't care less if there is a field station nearby or not, and it's neither a criteria for classifying earthquakes + the definition is more important than the words used in this "Japanese English" translation

neutral Didier Fourcot : Le première référence en gloubi-boulga prouve juste q'une traduciton automatique peut donner "champ proche" pour "near-field", l'article WP ne contient pas la notion de near field en anglais et celui de l'ENS ne l'utilise que pour la déformation
