Glossary entry (derived from question below)
anglais term or phrase:
He was a dedicated FBI agent
français translation:
c'était un agent du FBI dévoué
anglais term
He was a dedicated FBI agent

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

: "dévoué" is more "loyal or well-intentioned" "investi" is "dedicated"// No problem, the point of this forum is to help people make the right decisions, regardless of how many may agree with the less correct choice. I would be remiss to not point it out.

: It would be unusual to use 'dedicated' in that sense in EN without further specifying 'to what'; in any case, the answer you have entered 'Général' is rather confusing!

Discussion
I do agree about appalling translations in movies; have seen some quite ghastly examples, including some actual contre-sens. I was flabbergasted the other day to see on TWO US series the use of 'lentilles' in the context of Panaflex® lenses, which AFAIK have always been and will always been 'objectifs'!
It could only really mean 'dedicated' in the sense of 'intended for a certain purpose' if there was something immediately preceding it to explain to what he was dedicated — which is not the case here.
I don't see any logic at all in your alternative suggestion of "...qu'il a marqué les mémoires en tant qu'agent du FBI" — I can see no linguistic justification in the source text for this interpretation.
To answer your additional question — not really; it's true, it might be hard to be an excellent agent if one was not dedicated to the job; but on the other hand, one might be dedicated, hard-working, loyal — but absolutely hopeless at the job!
