See more After preparing my posting I found Dutch was checked already, but it might give some additional information, especially while the riff dental-vowel-l occures in many languages. http://www.hyperdictionary.com/search.aspx?define=talk The Dutch word for language is "taal", although "spraak" might fit in some rare situations. Some ages ago, the Dutch verb "to translate" sounded "overzetten" ("put tot the other side ~ transport) which bears similarity to the Danish, German and Swedish words for translator oversætter, Übersetzer, översättare. Now "to translate" is "vertalen". "taal" is akin to "Dol" in German "Dolmetscher" (litterally language-maker), English tale, tell, talk and more, and to "tol" in the the word tolk(..) / tulk(...), a many-language syllable in the word for interpreter. Dutch verbs always and on -en, and very often are composed of a suffix and a noun. A very common suffix is "ver" (in German as well), akin to Latin per, pro and "for" ("over" as well??), meaning the quality the noun mentions is changed. So "to translate" is "vertalen". The "ver" suffix does hardly appear in "interprete", which is "tolken". "vertolken" does exist, but then it means express, voice, represent, expound, play, do, render, interpret, perform, sing (opera), impersonate.
