In November, the second Regional Conference will be held in historic Edinburgh, the beautiful capital of Scotland. This is a wonderful opportunity to network with other translators and interpreters, participate in discussion groups, hands-on workshops, presentations etc. and at the same time visit a city where signs of history can be found wherever you turn.

But it's not just monuments Scotland and Edinburgh are famous for, there is also the music. Therefore, on Friday night, there will be a networking dinner followed by a Ceilidh with live music where you will be learn some traditional Scottish dances. This conference will be brought to you by and not just one organiser but two – the dynamic duo comprising Edinburgh-based Rebekka Gross and London-based Katharina Wawrzon.

The conference will take place at the Thistle Edinburgh, a hotel which with its central location just off Princes Street is only a short walk from the train station and many attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and the National Galleries of Scotland.

What is included in the delegate rate?
- Two-day conference
- Three-course dinner with a complementary glass of wine on Friday night
- Ceilidh with the Forth Bridges Dance Band on Friday night
- Lunch on both conference days
- Tea, coffee and biscuits during all coffee breaks
- Wi-Fi access at the conference

We will offer two 3-hour training courses on software applications most used by translators, one session on SDLX and the other on Déjà Vu and Data migration. Each of these courses is made up of three independent 55-minute sessions so you'll be able to choose, which parts are the most relevant for you. However, in order for our trainers to provide adequate support to participants, spaces are limited and signing up for each part is mandatory. Further prerequisites for participation are as follows: a laptop or advance arrangements to share someone else's laptop as well as installing demo (or full) versions of the required software prior to the conference. For more information, see the session-specific information available via the conference programme.

There are also 5 2 student* places available at £125 each on a first come, first served basis.

Programme Note: Please note that all 1-hour sessions are in fact only 55 minutes long to allow smooth transition between the different rooms and sessions. This also applies to the 3 independent parts comprising the 3-hour training sessions as well as to the 2-hour sessions. Similarly, 90-minute sessions should last 85 minutes.

WiFi internet access will be available to everyone as part of the conference package.

And if this is your first time in Edinburgh then why not join us for a pre-conference warm-up at Grape in central Edinburgh on Thursday, 9 November. To sign up and for more information, please visit the pre-conference drinks powwow page.

Hope to see many of you in Edinburgh in November!
