French term or phrase: pot de visualisation
As before, help for using a CAD application used for pipework, ventilation systems, etc.

Apart from that general context, the only other info I can give you is that it appears in a list of parts which can be inserted into a pipeline diagram, along with various types of valves, seals, metering devices etc. (which I've managed to get or deduce from GDT).

I'm guessing that this is literally something than enables a person to actually see the stuff in the pipes (!), so a "viewing....." something, perhaps? But perhaps not! Over to you.....

could be. Check out http://www.pavingexpert.com/drain04.htm#anim, especially the 'How to...' animation.

I was also thinking along the lines of inspection chamber or inspection port, but don't have enough context to narrow down the search.

Inspection! Good call, I like it. And following the example of "pot d'echappement" = exhaust pipe, I went for "pipe". Inspection pipe. Sounds plausible, and gets more google hits than the original French (which got nil!). Thanks for the inspiration, if not the term itself :-)

disagree  aguha: pot de visualisation seems to be a software meant for 3D visual modelling of piping design like smartplant software.this kind of software is used in CAD to see whether any fouling occurs inside the pipeline.

Explanation:
I suspect your hunch is right, and it's one of those glass bowls used to see if there is water in the oil, etc. --- or maybe just a glass 'pass-through' section let into the pipework.

I'll sleep on it and rack my brains to see if I can drag up the proper term for you, but don't hold your breath...!

Explanation:
I am very sorry if this is not what you are looking for.
Since CAD is a program, this refers to a graphic on the computer screen, not a mechanical part.

"Quickly view the design data for each item in the piping system by pointing to the object and viewing the details in the fly-by viewer at the bottom of the window.
Point to an item on the piping schematic and see detailed results in the fly-by viewer located at the bottom of the PIPE-FLO window. "
Calculate the throttle valve positions needed to balance the circuits in a piping system.
Size flow meters and balancing orifices and see how they affect the operation of the total piping system.
