As well as 15 years of translation experience in Russia, I have been working since June 2008 as a full-time freelance translator (Russian-English, French-English), editor, copywriter and journalist. Areas of translation and editing expertise: tax, legal, audit, accounting, finance, valuation (vendor/buyer due diligence), risk management, benchmarking, etc.
Current translation/editing clients include a law firm where I offer round-the-clock translation and editing together with a fellow translator based in Canada. I also work regularly with translation agencies with offices in the UK and the USA, as well as a well-known Russian politician and economist for publications in foreign newspapers. In addition I have translated short stories.
I was engaged as a translation expert in one court case which revolved about the translation of specific terms. The expert report resulted in the cancellation of the planned court hearings in London and saved the client USD 100 million.
Recently (2022-2024) I was a key member of a team of translators in aircraft leasing cases for an agency. As well as recent Russian legislation and articles on the aviation sector, I translated some of the witness statements.
I have worked as a post-machine translation editor on a number of legal engagements. This has led to the recent launch of a new service together with a fellow translator based in Canada: AI Translations Litigation Risk Review. The risks range from copyright infringement to breach of non-disclosure undertakings with clients and the cost of AI translation error, which can run into millions, even billions of dollars. As well as identifying such mistakes, we pinpoint pro bono potential errors in the original text.
I have also been offering the following service for the past five years: Professional Translation Quality Review. As time passes, the quality of work deliverables of audit and accounting and law firms for listed companies (annual reports, updated due diligence reports) can suffer and errors can creep in, due in part to reliance on translation software. A translation audit helps to uncover such errors and preclude the risk of litigation.
Qualified via CIOL to certify Russian-English translations.
