I am a translator with
over 20 years’ experience. As well as a First Class BA(Hons) in Latin American Studies from the University of Liverpool, I hold the Chartered Institute of Linguists Diploma
in Translation (CIOL DipTrans). I provide translations of the highest quality
in a wide range of subject areas, in particular institutional, marketing,
sustainability, travel/tourism, arts/culture, as well as academic and literary
texts. I believe a
translated text should read as though it was originally written in the target
language.
Since turning freelance in 2004, I have gained a wealth of experience
working for both institutional and corporate clients around the world. Between
2009 and 2016, I translated over a million words for the European Commission,
as a subcontractor to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) translation
service. From 2016 to 2024, I translated a quarter of a million words of
military history content for the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. Since
2004, I have also translated nearly a million words of travel and tourism
content.
In 2024, I completed a publishing-focused editing and proofreading
course at São Paulo’s Universidade do Livro, to enhance my skills in this area.
