Born in Argentina and moved with my family to Germany at the age of nine, I've always had a connection to languages. At home, we have always spoken Spanish, while my daily language at school and work has always been German, which made easier to me to learn other languages.
I have always been fascinated about languages, especially because I consider them to be a very important part and a mirror of the culture they come from. For me, languages only exist within their context and with their individual development through history.
Therefore, I specialised in Language History and linguistics at university, as I could do the research which most fascinated me.
During my university studies I translated texts for different institutions, among which there were some schools, a convent and two museums. In addition, I had clients from many different branches, for example an architect, a fashion designer, a techno dj and many other professions.
Four years ago I started working full-time as a freelance translator. My areas of specialization are economy, law, medicine, art, literature, music and history. Of course, private correspondence is possible as well.
A translation has never been turning one word or sentence from one language into another. Thus, I try to transfer feelings, emotions and cultural backgrounds into my translations. This can lead to quite "free" translations, but especially for literary texts I have experienced that this is often a better solution.
Before I started working as a translator, I worked as an interior decorator and as a language teacher for adults. Still today I love to combine my skills whenever possible.
Being a computer and communication maniac, I am equipped with everything I need to be anywhere and anytime available. Simply contact me.
During my spare time, I enjoy doing arts and music. I draw, paint and do some artwork with Photoshop, Maya and Flash. In addition, I play the guitar and the tin whistle. Sometimes, I even write poems and short stories, but I've been too shy to look for an editor yet.
