BIO


I am a sworn translator and a master-level court-certified interpreter with an international background. I specialise in legal and commercial translations and have almost 10 years of experience working professionally. As well as having an MA in Translations and Interpreting and a BA in English and French, I am sworn by the Romanian Ministry of Justice and accredited by the Embassy of Romania to the UK.

I spent almost 6 years of my career working for international companies in commercial roles, with responsibilities in sales & marketing but also as an in-house linguist. I learned a lot about business and working internationally, through interpreting in different European countries and through managing sales to France, Mediterranean and Eastern Europe.

Interpreting is my great passion and makes up a great part of my activities, but I find it equally important to stay grounded in languages as a discipline which is why I dedicate the rest of my time to translations and terminology.

I have also been awarded Qualified Teacher Status for English and French by the relevant Romanian and British educational bodies.


SALES & MARKETING


My main field of expertise is sales and marketing. I am very interested in localisation, not just from the linguistic perspective, but actually understanding what customers want and how to communicate with them in a meaningful way. I choose projects where I can contribute to building winning messages, to promoting a product or a service according to specific market requirements. In my commercial roles, I have written copy and translated content for materials to cover the sales process in its entirety: cold calling letters, product literature, datasheets, catalogues, videos, advertising campaigns, websites, newsletters, market surveys etc., all aimed at supporting sales and business development in overseas markets. I learned a lot about approaching new markets, about different types of consumers and about what goes into their decision to accept innovation or to make a purchase.


LAW


As a translator, I have tried as much as possible to indulge my passion for the Law and anything legal through translating contracts, partnership agreements, official documentation for the Courts and Notaries, for the Embassy of Romania to the UK and for the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Wales. I have a great interest in this field and constantly look to develop my vocabulary through reading Law journals, building glossaries and collecting parallel texts and legal documents.


CORPORATE, INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, MEDIA, PUBLIC SERVICE, DIPLOMACY


My career as an interpreter spans over 10 years and my experiences have been as many as they have been varied. From conferences and high profile diplomatic events - Embassy of Romania to the UK (events with the Home Office, the Foreign Office, official visits of Romanian dignitaries to the UK) - or international rugby tours, to tense business negotiations, to corporate launches, trade fairs and global audits, to medical examinations, I find interpreting rewarding and always look for projects where my experience and expertise can make a difference.


I currently live in Wales and travel overseas regularly for interpreting assignments and commercial projects.
