Medical records review & deciphering
Since 1996 I have worked as a medical/legal consultant on a full-time, then as-needed basis analyzing medical records for potential medical malpractice cases, and personal injury cases. This has involved reading, deciphering and logging thousands of pages of medical records, including diagnostic reports, surgical reports, hospital charting notes, emergency records, consult reports, etc., and writing analysis regarding same (see case study in portfolio). It also included depositions with physicians, mastering medical terminology, and researching causes and conditions of various afflictions, as well as standard of care in various specialties, especially OBGYN and general surgery. My current cases are Breast Implant litigations, have also done some Phen-Phen work. Former casework also includes a massive and successful pharmaceutical litigation. I have also mastered medical terminology relative to my own, temporary disability (4 years), including 8 surgeries, various diagnostic procedures, meds, hospitalizations. Sometimes, experience is the best teacher. NOTE: This job was English only, but the project history didn't allow an English<>English, or English only entry, so I selected the closest match.
Médecine (général)
positif Unlisted : Excellent Medical and Legal Knowledge and Skills, and is naturally gifted in the use of language

Texte source - hongrois [Klienseim nevét megváltoztattam a személyi adatvédelem érdekében.]
Nagy: Kérem, mondjon valamit a személyes életútjáról, mióta van a cégnél, és jelenleg milyen beosztásban?
Takács: A **** Futóműgyár Kft-nél a cég megalakulása (1991) óta dolgozom. Ezt megelőzően is a ****nál dolgoztam. 1977-től 1991-ig főkönyvelő voltam a ****nál.
Takács: Én nagy kihívásnak éreztem ennek a vegyes vállalatnak a megalakulását.
Traduction - anglais [For the confidentiality of my clients, I have changed their names.]
Please tell me something about your own life’s progression, how long you have been with this company, and your current position.
I have worked for **** Undercarriage Manufacturer since its establishment in 1991. Prior to this, I worked for ****. From 1977 to 1991 I was the Chief Accountant for ****. In 1991, when we separated from ****, then I became the Finance Director of the new company. Then, from 1994 to 1999, I was the Assistant Managing Director, and since 1999 I have been the Chief Managing Director. In 1999, the prior Managing Director retired and, much to my surprise, I found myself in his position, thus I was named to the top position of Managing Director. Alongside my management work, I also oversee the direction and supervision of financial activity. The Assistant Managing Director is Mr. Kovács, who also oversees the technical and production domains.
When this joint venture was established, was there anything, any situation, that you personally considered a major challenge at that time?
I felt the establishment of this mixed company to be a great challenge. The reason is that the organizational relationship between our previous company, that is, the factory in Szombathely (****’s factory facility in Szombathely) and ****’s facility in Györ was such that we only had to handle manufacturing, and nothing else. At the same time, we were a production facility for **** in Györ, and we had to produce and we had to fulfill quotas for them. Thus, we at the Szombathely facility did not have our own accounting standards or a budgetary regulating system, or other such obligations. In 1991 when we suddenly broke off from ****, we became an independent legal entity, at that time an LLC. Then we had to carry out all of the responsibilities that go along with that status. This was a great challenge for me professionally. For me a big problem was that I don’t know a foreign language well enough for business meetings, although I have studied German and English. So, in 1991 when they asked me to be the Finance Director, then the first thing I said was that I didn’t have adequate German language skills. I said this because I felt that such skills would be necessary for the management position. To my greatest surprise, the German finance director told me that, at the most, it would only rarely be necessary that we communicate with eachother directly because there would be an interpreter. And that they did not expect that I be able to communicate with them fluently in German, rather, that I and my colleagues uphold Hungarian laws and direct the company (the new Joint Venture) in such a way that their company name (BPW) would not be tarnished. The task was assigned in this manner, we had to get started, and it had to be done.

Traduction - anglais Christopher Genin (Paris) agrees: “Freedom to stereotype, shall we say, ends where freedom of belief begins. But the converse is valid as well: freedom of belief ends where the freedom to stereotype begins. These two freedoms are not equivalent. The freedom of belief arises from one’s personal life, from the private realm, thus from one’s rights as an individual, while the freedom to stereotype arises from the public, from the political realm.”
Does this type of argument have the slightest chance of being accepted, or even understood, by Muslims crying blasphemy in the streets of Karachi, Djakarta or Teheran? Patrick Charaudeau, a professor at the University of Paris, notes a cultural disparity between these two worlds: “In the name of our secular values, we demand that others accept scrutiny of their beliefs. They attribute absolutely no relevance to this. Even entertaining the notion is sacrilegious. No matter how difficult it is to admit, this is what we must accept. It is at this point that respect for others is truly measured. Otherwise, it is tantamount to the arrogance of believing one has a monopoly on absolute truth. It is this very arrogance that we are criticizing in others…Let us be humble enough to recognize that we cannot, in any manner, scoff at everything before an unpredictable and heterogeneous audience. The right to irreverence has a price.”
