John
Eastham is a British writer, translator and voice artist based in Santiago de
Compostela, Spain. Born in Preston, Lancashire and educated at Cambridge
(English Literature, Churchill College) and Bristol (Film and Television), he
has spent over thirty years working at the intersection of language, culture
and communication across Europe.

A
native British English speaker with a natural Received Pronunciation register,
John has an extensive background in voice-over and narration, simultaneous
interpretation, audio production and prompt-based recording for broadcast,
corporate and data collection contexts. He has narrated documentaries,
corporate films and institutional content for clients including Netflix,
Olympus Communications and Adivina Productions, and has served as interpreter
for figures including conductor Colin Davis and participants in the
International PEN Club Poets’ Symposium.

As
a translator, John works from French, Spanish, Portuguese, Galician, Italian
and German into English, specialising in legal, financial and literary texts.
His published translations include The Clowns from Paradise by Xelis de
Toro (Small Stations Press, 2022) and the documentary film Children of
Teahupo’o (2024). He has also translated the Mozambican Civil Code and a
range of doctoral, institutional and commercial texts.

From
2007 to 2014, John served as Head of Translation at ABANCA (La Coruña),
managing the bank’s English and Galician language output and overseeing a team
of translators and external suppliers. He has also taught English at the
University of Santiago de Compostela and coordinated film and advertising
productions in London.

He
is available for translation, revision, voice recording, subtitling,
copywriting and editorial projects, and works comfortably across standard and
urgent timelines.
