Technical writer and trainer with a love of languages, clear written communication, and good user interface design.

I stopped working when I had children, and over the last 18 years I have (on and off) home educated my 3 boys, our family moved from Washington state to Ireland, and we spent most of a year travelling and living in Europe as a family, working and studying online.

For the last four years, I studied with The Open University, and I recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in French and German. I am now seeking to combine my skills and interest in languages, writing and documentation to develop a new career as a translator. Given my previous experience, I am particularly interested in technical training/educational documentation and materials. However, as a keen reader myself (and mother of voracious readers!), I am also interested in literary translation, especially young adult fiction. 

I have always been quick to pick up new software, so although I have not yet used any CAT tools professionally, I am confident in my ability to learn. I use Mac OS X and have years of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
