Bio
A 100% native American English speaker, I learned Spanish and French the hard way in high school and college, graduating with honors in Spanish and Business Language Certificates in both languages. Prior to becoming a translator, I worked in retail management for the video rental chain Movie Gallery for about five and a half years, and at a local law firm as a document reviewer and in house translator for another five years. I also worked as a legal and accounting intern while in college.
It was while working as a document reviewer that I learned about the great need for accurate translations in the United States. I saw firsthand the poor results of leaving translation work to untrained bilingual staff. That’s why as a freelancer, I continuously strive to provide 100% accurate translations.
Over the years, I have settled into the specializations of legal, business, medical, and certified translations after regularly completing translations in those fields for various translation agencies. Freelancing has taken my knowledge base in translation theory, languages, business, and law further, adding competencies in document formatting and CAT tools.
I enjoy and look forward to learning something new or simply helping others access or integrate and process their experiences outside of the United States. I have extensive experience completing certified translations of birth, marriage, death, and medical certificates and diplomas and transcripts from Spanish and French-speaking countries. I have translated birth certificates from every and nearly every Spanish and French-speaking country, respectively.
In my other fields of specialization, I have similarly extensive experience. I have translated various types of court orders, contracts, judgements, motions, indictments, police investigations, articles of incorporation, job offers, performance reviews, advertisements, lab reports, discharge summaries, and progress notes, among other legal, business, and medical documents.
