Texte source - anglais The rate of improvement in fleet-average aircraft fuel efficiency (1.21% per annum) is rather lower than the assumed rate of improvement in the fuel efficiency of new aircraft (1.3% p.a. plus step-changes) which we set out in section 5.5 above. There are two reasons for this:
• The average improvement rate in fleet-average fuel efficiency is calculated over the 40-year period 2010 to 2050. However, our Road-Map takes account of aircraft types entering service up to and including 2040. This means that the technological or product developments taking place post 2040 do not influence our Road-Map within the 2050 time-horizon.
• Our assumption of a 2035 entry into service (EIS) for the second generation (G2) wide-body aircraft, and a 2040 EIS for the G2 very-large aircraft, coupled with a 20-year fleet turnover period in both cases, means that many G1 aircraft in these two categories will not have been replaced by 2050. The full impact on fleet-average fuel efficiency of the technology embodied in the G2 wide-body and very-large aircraft types will therefore not be realised until after 2050.

Protocol describes a manner in which communication between devices is defined. It enables them to address each other and defines how they should look for each other on either system bus or network. Buses can, according to the purpose, be divided into:
• Serial - USB, Firewire, etc.
• Parallel - AGP, PCI, etc.
• Mixed - HyperTransport, InfiniBand, PCI, etc..
Central Processing Unit (CPU or processor) is a central part of a computer (“brain”). It manages all other computer parts, monitors their mutual communication and performs arithmetic-logical operations. Processor speed is measured in hertz (or megahertz or gigahertz). Most famous manufacturers for personal computer processors are Intel and AMD.
Cache is a small capacity memory which allows quick access to data. By storing data from working memory in cache, the speed of communication between processor and RAM is increased. Microprocessors use three levels of fast cache, L1, L2 and L3, used to store often used data.
