Texte source - anglais As a result of the recognized beneficial effects of PPIs in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults, the NEXIUM pediatric clinical program was designed to investigate the potential of esomeprazole to safely treat GERD in children from birth and up to the age of 17 years, inclusive. The first group studied in this program consisted of patients aged 12 to 17 years, inclusive. Label extensions for oral esomeprazole use in patients of 12 years of age or older were approved in the United States (US) in April 2006 and in the European union (EU) in July 2006. The second age group studied consisted of patients aged 1 to 11 years, inclusive. Label extensions for the use of oral esomeprazole in patients in this age group, and a new oral dosage form (a sachet) of NEXIUM for children who require a 10 mg dose of esomeprazole, were approved in Canada in October 2007, the EU in April 2008, and the US in February 2008. The third age group studied was children aged 0 to 11 months, inclusive. This data has been submitted in the ongoing EU work sharing procedure (SE/W006/pdWS/001) and has also been submitted to the FDA and other regulatory authorities.

Malheureusement, les suites étaient dévastatrices car tous ces petits “ coupes gorges ” transformaient la belle anastomose en véritable passoire. Le salut et la sécurité de ces anastomoses sont venus de l’ “agrafeuse”, invention géniale et biologique car l’agrafe ne se ferme pas donc ne tue pas. Deux ou trois rangées de sutures bien serrées, allant d’une berge musculaire à l’autre et en prenant au large, assuraient l’obturation “satisfaisante” de l’orifice. Malheureusement, le muscle perdait vie et contractibilité et, en disparaissant, laissait la place à l’éventration. Là aussi est arrivée une géniale et biologique invention dont la paternité revient à Rives- Stoppa et qui nous disait en substance : “au lieu de casser les montants de la fenêtre, mettez donc un volet”. La plaque est devenue le support biologique de la fermeture des hernies de paroi.
