Language Ninja (NL | EN | FR | ES | PT) with a â€ïž for teaching translation and interpreting đ» đ§ đ€
Curious to find out what makes me tick? âŹ
đ Fresh out of university college with a Masterâs Degree in Translation and a Postgraduate Certificate in Conference Interpreting under my belt, I jumped in at the deep end and started my own business in 2012.
đ What can I say? Waiting until I feel ready isnât how I roll.
âïž While I absolutely loved translating and interpreting (still do!), I discovered thereâs one thing I enjoy even more: teaching others the ropes of the job. I became a part-time teaching assistant at Ghent University in 2013.
đ€čđ» As the years went by, juggling clients and students just wasnât an option anymore. Elton John had no idea. Forget about âsorryâ, ânoâ is the hardest word. Especially for a perfectionist people-pleaser like me.
đŻ Thatâs why Iâm a translator and EU-accredited interpreter turned trainer.
â
I help students turn their love of languages into a career, one âlife-saving checklistâ at a time (their words, not mine). Iâm convinced I can turn any challenging chapter into a one-page (colour-coded!) checklist or summary. Donât take my word for it, ask any one of my (former) students.
â€ïž When Iâm not sharing the secrets of the trade with them, I enjoy reading*, dabbling with watercolour, jogging, travelling and watching stand-up comedy.
--- * Recent (re)reads include: âBorn a Crimeâ by Trevor Noah and âA Christmas Carolâ by Charles Dickens. Yes, Iâm one of those people who start decorating in November and donât take down the Christmas tree until February. Donât judge me! |
