Born of Italian parents and raised in Zimbabwe, I arrived in Italy – my ‘home’ country – at the age of 20. I worked in several multinational companies for more than twenty years (banks, a market development organisation of the gold industry, companies operating in information/trading systems and publishing/business information), where I refined my various skills – especially foreign languages. I have been working as a full-time freelance translator for almost ten years, although my translation experience goes back many years.
I have bilingual English – Italian skills and also a good knowledge of French, although I have not had much chance to work in this language.
On moving to Italy, I started the pursuit of learning about my mother culture and I have recently immersed myself in the culture of Italian food and wine, which has become a real passion. So much so, that I have decided to set up my own business, specialising in this field (www.exploringtaste.com) and am now expanding my freelance work under the umbrella of this enterprise.
I have translated several publications, tourist guidebooks, recipe books and websites for Wine and Food Roads, Wine Consortiums/Producers, Regional Agricultural Boards and Producers of Speciality Products.
I also have wide experience in other sectors such as gold jewellery/silverware, fashion, advertising/marketing, market research, pharmaceuticals, publishing, training/education, human resource management/recruitment, law (contracts/antitrust), quality management systems and EU-funded projects.
