As with my previous question, I assume the word "incident" here is used in the sense of "point of law". But I have a suspicion that in fact this phrase "demande d'incident" has a specific use here, possibly something to do with the urgency of the application.
But I can't find any evidence of this.

Définition de demande incidente
La demande incidente est une expression juridique renvoyant à une demande en justice formulée en cours de procès. La demande incidente n'ouvre pas l'instance puisqu'elle intervient après l'ouverture de cette dernière. La demande incidente peut être formulée par le demandeur, on parlera alors de demande additionnelle. Si elle émane du défendeur, elle constituera une demande reconventionnelle. La demande incidente émanant d'un tiers sera désignée par le terme d'intervention volontaire. Si elle est dirigée contre un tiers, soit par le demandeur, soit par le défendeur, on parlera alors d'intervention forcée.
In a court of law, a party's claim is a counter-claim if the defending party has previously (in the present action) made a claim against the claiming party.
Examples of counterclaims include:
After a bank has sued a customer for an unpaid debt, the customer counterclaims (sues back) against the bank for fraud in procuring the debt. The court will sort out the different claims in one lawsuit (unless the claims are severed).
Two cars collide. After one person sues for damage to her car and personal injuries, the defendant counterclaims for similar property damage and personal injury claims.

| Thanks. In fact I was aware of "demande incidente", which is defined in Bridge along the lines you suggest: interlocutory application; motion; additional application, etc. But "demande ***d'incident***" might be something different. |
