This is a product test of a product i think is named 'renovation aqualia' made by L'Oreal. They refer to diffrerent products as 'renovation' followed by their code number eg 'renovation 574XXXX'.

EG: 'Les deaux renovations 123XXX et 123XXX ne se differencient l'un de l'autre'.

But what can 'renovation' mean here please?

In-house L'Oréal usage - not a title L'Oréal uses the term 'rénovation' to describe redeveloping its marketed products: tweaking hte formulations but not changing the marketing. They like it translated as renovation. I tried 'redeveloped' such and such in the past, and it was corrected.

L'Oreal If this is the name of a product, it should be left as is. But if the company wants to rename it for an English-speaking market, the term 'renewal' is often used in cosmetic product names and descriptions. I agree, 'renovation' does suggest building work- not the right connotations!

Isn't there anyway to be sure? If it is the name of a product, why in the world would you want to translate it?

Aqualia is used in the title of a few Vichy product ranges (Aqualia Anti-Ox, Aqualia Thermal), so I would say 'renovation' shouldn't be touched. Though you probably should point out to them that it sounds like a Bunnings Hardware product rather than a cosmetic one... I can only guess that renovation refers to a cream / serum / etc that rejuvenates skin cells by boosting skin renewal.

Maybe the words need to be flipped around (i.e. to Aqualia Renovation) in keeping with the names of the other ranges.
