C’est au centre de cet applicateur que circulera la source radioactive, qui assurera une irradiation sur un segment bien déterminé. Cette curiethérapie est le plus souvent réalisée pour donner un complément de dose (« surimpression » ou « boost » ) après irradiation externe, dans le cadre d’un traitement à visée curative.
