I received some ttx files from a customer (all named "something.mif.rtf.ttx")and I am trying to run "Translate" on them with the option "Segment unknown sentences" checked; everything seems to run as it should do, but the unknown sentences are not segmented in the resulting files.

Any ideas?

I opened the files in TagEditor and saved "bilingual as" into another location; after that the segmentation works; curiouser and curiouser...

I have a gut feeling that a lot of this kind of problems can be traced back to a missing original file. In other words, xyz.ttx file is incomplete - in certain cases - without the xyz.

Plus of course there's bugs (sg) and there's always hope for the next release. Even minor releases may have major impact - so keep upgrading (another sg).

PS: The horror vision - it may have to do also with different versions of TagEditor being applied. Meaning may ttx is not identical to ttx.

Actually, that was also one of things I suspected too; so my plan of action was to install Trados 6.5 on a Virtual PC in the next step; I didn't have to go that far this time.

Does anybody happen to know if there is something like an exact specification of the "Trados ttx" format anywhere, with differences between Trados versions indicated?

(My situation is even a bit more complex since I translate the segmented ttx files in Transit, which has quite a few advantages over the direct TagEditor processing.)

... and on top of that TRANSIT (sg)??

Regards and keep posting
