Dear ProZians,

I would like to try Trados. Is there a free trial version that I could download somewhere? I have checked www.translationzone.com but I am a bit lost...

Also, do you recommend TRADOS 6.5 Freelance (Version 6.5.5.438) or TRADOS 6.0 Freelance to start with?

DEMO version Jul 20, 2006

Hi Kaisa,

If you open TRADOS without a license, it will automatically launch the demo version, which lets you handle only a small memory (up to x number of segments).

As the version recomended, since they are now at version 2006, I guess you don't have much choice...

You can download the latest version of Trados (SDL Trados 2006) from this address:

As is the case with many other programs, all you will need to launch the full version once you have installed the trial version is a licence key, which you have to order separately and download from the Customer Center.

The restrictions in place in the trial version are listed here:

A set of manuals is installed with the software.

...how you get on (if you think of it of course). I will be getting a version of Déjà-Vu in the near future, but I'm an absolute beginner at CAT-tools.
I'm torn between translating a lot faster in the future and losing a lot of time now (learning to use these programs).
